Adult Green Paper:Transforming Adult Social Care

Adult Green Paper:Transforming Adult Social Care

Introduction

As our population ages at an ever increasing rate, the care needs of older people and people with disabilities are rapidly overtaking the public funds available to pay for them.  The Government’s response to this crisis has been to propose radical changes to the current funding system that will entitle all adults with a care need above a particular threshold to claim at least some public funding for care.  The proposed changes have been set out in the recently published Adult Green Paper – the biggest opportunity for policy reform in adult care services for more than 60 years.
